I have been researching the pantone colours for the olympic rings as part of my design for my Olympicnic project.

Picnic sets
I have been researching picnic sets for my Olypicnic project. I am trying to decide whether to go for a sustainable attitude to this project, seeing as I am basing this idea round the use of a green space it seems like a relevant theme. However, sustainability is not an area I have ever been that interested in before in my work and I think that it is like opening a can of worms in many respects. My personal practice has always been about design/aesthetic lead solutions.
Cath Kidston are an inspiration to me and design a huge range of picnic paraphernalia as well as following an aesthetic similar to what I want for my picnic set - 'best of british.'
Cath Kidston disposable hamper :
I came across this hamper set in the shop a few months ago and I really love the idea of it. This could be a really suitable idea to explore as this set is intended for use at the olympic games and is in many ways a novelty item. However, the games are on over an extended period of time so it would be more practical for it to be able to be used over this whole period. Also packaging is not an area that I am strong in or interested in so it seems pointless to make this into a packaging brief when it is intended as an identity brief. Also, another positive element to it being long lasting as a product; it could become a collectors item like patriotic commemorative china.
Beautiful vintage hamper :
I want to create and illustration for the set that explains its purpose as part of the promotional material surrounding the idea.
In terms of the hamper and other items I intend to brand as part of this brief, it will be a case of what I can get my hands on. I have managed to source two different sized picnic hampers - it is just a case of when I will be able to collect them for photographing and measuring for branding.

Old Olympic posters
I have been looking at old olympic posters from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's to correspond with the vintage sports theme I might use for this project. I like the muted colours of these particular designs - which differ from the much more garish designs that are around at the moment for the pending 2012 Olympics.
Illustrative layout
I really like the style of image and layout of these illustrations. I think that this kind of pile up arrangement would work well if I were to create a promotional illustration for the products of the Olympicnic kit.
Wimbledon

Wimbledon is a good example of a British sporting event - I want to reflect upon this patriotic sporting event and apply elements of the identity that Wimbledon tennis has to my Olympicnic idea.
Vintage sports advertising
I have been investigating a vintage sports theme for my brief 'Olympicnic'. I love vintge imagery and advertising in particularly. I think that these images could be reproduced as part of an aesthetic for the range of products I am going to brand.
